SEROWE DISTRICT COUNCIL HOSTS WASTE PITSO
The consultative engagement primarily organised by the SDC Department of Environmental Health took place in Serowe at the Council Chamber, under the theme ‘Itshetse Ka Matlakala’. The collaboration was in effort to strengthen the correlation between all involved in proper Waste Management and sensitize all stakeholders on ways to make a living out of proper waste disposal and usage.
The informative meeting was officially welcomed by the Serowe District Council Chairman, Hon. Keneilwe Monageng who in his welcome remarks applauded the need for such occasions as they emphasise team work in combating everyday challenges. “This remarkable occasion marks the beginning of a unison era, as we embark on winning this battle against environmental pollution and I welcome you all to join in on this fight because together, the battle is already won,” he said.
When taking to the podium to share the objectives of the assembly, the SDC Council Secretary, Mr. Mogorosi Kokoro said that, “It is worth noting that we have amongst us, experts who are here to share with us ways in which we can turn waste to wealth, therefore this meeting is intended to improve the lives of Batswana both in Health and Wealth.”
Mr. Kokoro further mentioned that Waste Recovery Companies are also present as testament to waste to wealth creation phenomenon and are here to share their experiences and the endless possibilities that comes with proper Waste Management. The enlightening event concluded with touring of products made from Waste and proved to be as competitive as any other production.
Serowe District Council Hosts Waste Pitso
Today the 27th March 2024 Serowe District Council convened together with the Village leadership, Hon. Councillors, Local Waste Recyclers and Innovators including relevant entities being, the Department of Waste Management and Pollution Control (DWMPC), Tshole Trust and the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).
